Job Summary

Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, the Strata Control Officer is instrumental in maintaining the structural integrity of the underground workings and actively preventing falls of ground. The incumbent will conduct rigorous, routine strata control examinations, audits, and physical underground workplace inspections.

Key Responsibilities

Key duties include performing detailed tunnel geotechnical risk ratings, continuously monitoring operational compliance with engineered ground support standards, and identifying anomalous geological structures that threaten stability. The Officer will also be responsible for the installation, monitoring, and data interpretation of complex rock engineering instrumentation, while providing critical on-the-job rock mechanics training to production personnel. The position forms part of a multidiscipline workforce responsible for maintaining safe, legally compliant production cycles while coordinating equipment, personnel, and logistical resources across an extensive underground layout.

Qualifications & Experience

Candidates must hold a recognized Strata Control Certificate and possess a strong foundational education (BGCSE) heavily focused on Mathematics and Physical Science. A minimum of three years of dedicated practical experience in underground rock engineering is mandatory, alongside high proficiency in conducting rock mass ratings.
