Job Summary
Reporting to the Engineering Planner, the Junior Engineering Planner provides crucial technical and administrative support to ensure effective maintenance planning for underground mining equipment. This entry‑level role contributes to equipment reliability by managing work orders, tracking KPIs, and assisting in long‑term maintenance scheduling. The Planner operates in a fast‑moving environment where accurate data management directly supports equipment availability and production performance.
Key Responsibilities
Daily duties include generating, issuing, and closing out work orders, compiling downtime and utilization reports, capturing maintenance history, and supporting root‑cause analyses for recurring failures. The junior planner assists in forecasting spare‑part requirements, aligning procurement cycles with maintenance needs, and maintaining accurate records within the CMMS. The role also involves organizing maintenance meetings, updating component life‑cycle records, monitoring service intervals, and helping prepare shutdown plans. Strong collaboration with artisans, supervisors, and stores personnel is required to ensure that planned maintenance activities proceed without delays caused by missing parts or unclear instructions.
Qualifications & Experience
A Degree or Diploma in an Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required, along with ERB registration under the Graduate category. One to three years' experience in maintenance planning or engineering support within mining or heavy industry is preferred.
