Job Summary

Reporting to the Mine Planner, the Junior Mine Planner supports the creation, updating, and optimization of underground mine designs and schedules. This role combines CAD work, production data analysis, and technical drafting to ensure development and extraction strategies remain accurate and aligned with actual underground conditions. It is a developmental position designed to build strong technical competencies in mine design, survey integration, and production forecasting.

Key Responsibilities

The junior planner updates 3D mine models, drafts development designs, assists in preparing drilling and blasting layouts, and compiles daily/weekly production reconciliation reports. The role requires close collaboration with surveyors, geologists, and production teams to ensure that as-built data is correctly incorporated into planning models. Additional duties include analyzing production variances, assisting with ventilation and infrastructure layouts, checking drilling accuracy maps, and preparing technical drawings for operational crews. The planner also supports short‑term scheduling, monitors development progress against the plan, and helps identify potential design or sequencing conflicts.

Qualifications & Experience

A Degree in Mining Engineering and ERB Graduate registration are required. Three years of experience in underground mining, CAD modeling, or mine design support is preferred. Strong spatial reasoning and computer literacy (Deswik, AutoCAD and Microsoft Project) are preferred.
