Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Project Manager, the Mine Manager holds ultimate statutory responsibility under the MQWM Act for the safe, compliant, and efficient execution of all underground operations. This senior leadership role demands strategic oversight of production, technical services, maintenance, and safety functions to ensure continuous alignment with engineered extraction plans and legal requirements. The Mine Manager drives operational discipline, fosters a proactive safety culture, and ensures that resource allocation, workforce planning, and equipment utilization support consistent achievement of development and production targets.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include leading daily underground operations, enforcing statutory compliance, driving risk‑management initiatives, managing performance, and ensuring all mining activities meet geotechnical and engineering standards. The manager develops strategic mine plans, performs leadership coaching, oversees audits, and ensures reporting accuracy for regulatory submissions. Collaboration with technical, engineering, SHEQ, and financial teams is essential for long‑term project sustainability.

Qualifications & Experience

A Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering, a valid Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency, and ERB registration are mandatory. A minimum of twenty years of underground hard‑rock experience with at least eight years in senior leadership is required within a high-speed development mining environment.
