Job Description:
Job Summary
Reporting to the Engineering Construction Superintendent, the Construction Foreman provides direct, hands‑on supervision over underground civil and electricial construction activities that support the mine's development and operational readiness. This role requires in‑depth knowledge of heavy electrical, civil and mining construction standards, along with the ability to coordinate crews in restricted underground conditions where ventilation, ground stability, and equipment access impose unique challenges. The Foreman ensures work is executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with engineering specifications, making this position central to delivering high‑quality underground infrastructure on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
The Construction Foreman allocates tasks to crews, conducts detailed pre‑shift briefings, inspects workplace conditions, and ensures strict adherence to shotcrete, formwork, concrete placement, rebar installation, and excavation support requirements. The role involves coordinating equipment usage, monitoring material quality, validating measurements against drawings, and escalating deviations to engineering teams. Daily responsibilities also include maintaining accurate progress records, facilitating hazard identification, enforcing permit‑to‑work systems, and ensuring that construction sequences align with the mine's logistical and ventilation constraints.
Qualifications & Experience
A Mechanical or Eletrcial or Millwright Trade Certificate, a supervisory type qualification and at least 8 years of experience in leading underground engineering construction in the mining environment. Strong site leadership, engineering drawing interpretation skills, and proven ability to supervise crews safely in confined, high‑risk environments are essential.
