Job Summary

Reporting to the Mechanical Foreman, the Fitter is a highly skilled artisan tasked with executing both planned preventive maintenance and urgent breakdown repairs on the heavy mobile equipment fleet and massive underground water reticulation pumping systems. The fitter must expertly remove, strip, diagnose, and refit complex heavy plant components, including massive hydraulic cylinders, drive shafts, and high-pressure water pumps.

Key Responsibilities

The incumbent will conduct reliability-centered inspections, utilizing precision measuring instruments to identify excessive wear before catastrophic failure occurs. The role demands strict adherence to Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) safety procedures.

Qualifications & Experience

The candidate must possess a Trade Certificate in Maintenance Fitting and demonstrate a minimum of five years of post-qualification experience working specifically within a harsh underground mining or heavy industrial environment. Deep practical knowledge of complex hydraulic and pneumatic systems is absolutely essential.
