Job Summary

Reporting to the PIC, the General Assistant plays a critical support role across multiple underground work areas. The assistant performs essential manual labour, equipment handling, and workplace organisation tasks that keep construction, engineering, and production teams operating safely and efficiently. Working in confined, uneven, and hazardous environments, the assistant supports daily readiness of work areas, ensures materials are moved to the correct locations, and contributes to maintaining compliance with underground housekeeping standards.

Key Responsibilities

Duties include transporting heavy tools and construction materials, clearing debris to eliminate slip and fall hazards, assisting artisans during maintenance tasks, supporting installation of ground support materials, and helping establish safe work areas. The assistant may also assist in barricading work zones, organising consumables, preparing equipment for crews, and ensuring adequate illumination in work areas. Strong physical capability and strict adherence to safety protocols are essential to support operations without interruption.

Qualifications & Experience

A BGCSE or equivalent qualification is required. Candidates must demonstrate exceptional physical endurance, strong situational awareness, and the ability to follow complex verbal instructions under pressure. Prior underground underground or heavy industrial experience is preferred.
