Job Summary
Reporting to the Project Engineer, the Engineering Planner ensures the optimal scheduling and coordination of all maintenance activities for underground fixed plant and mobile machinery. This role is central to maximizing equipment availability and reducing unplanned downtime in a high‑pressure mechanized mining environment. The Planner transforms operational data into structured maintenance strategies that align with production demands, safety regulations, and life‑of‑asset requirements.
Key Responsibilities
The Engineering Planner develops preventive and predictive maintenance schedules, manages major component change‑out plans, and oversees long‑range maintenance forecasting. Responsibilities include analyzing equipment performance trends, generating work orders, prioritizing tasks in the CMMS, and coordinating with maintenance crews, procurement, and operations to ensure parts and resources are available. The Planner monitors maintenance KPIs, compiles technical reports, reviews breakdown root‑cause analyses, and updates maintenance strategies to prevent repeat failures. Close communication with artisans, supervisors, and OEM reps is essential for accurate planning.
Qualifications & Experience
A Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with active ERB Registration is required. A minimum of five years' experience in maintenance planning within heavy industry or mining is essential, with strong CMMS proficiency and analytical skills.
