Job Summary
Operating under the TMM Superintendent, the Mechanical Foreman is responsible for the direct, frontline supervision and execution of all mechanical maintenance activities pertaining to both the underground fixed plant and the mobile trackless equipment fleet. The foreman will direct specialized teams of artisans (including fitters and boilermakers) in the rapid, accurate diagnosis of complex mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults.
Key Responsibilities
Key duties involve meticulously scheduling and overseeing planned preventive interventions while simultaneously managing emergency breakdown repairs to minimize costly production downtime. The foreman is also responsible for enforcing strict workshop safety protocols, maintaining rigorous quality control over repairs, and updating work orders within the CMMS.
Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate must hold a Mechanical or Electrical Trade and a supervisory qualification or diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering. A minimum of eight years of post-trade experience in an underground heavy industry setting is required, with proven capabilities in a supervisory capacity, strong analytical troubleshooting skills, and expert-level knowledge of heavy mobile equipment. Experience with Sandvik, Caterpillar and Fermel equipment is mandatory.
