Job Description:
Job Summary
Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, the Mine Planner plays a pivotal role in developing precise short‑term and medium‑term underground mine plans that drive safe, efficient, and cost‑effective extraction. Operating within a highly mechanized, data‑dense environment, the planner integrates geological models, survey updates, production reports, and engineering constraints to formulate practical designs that align with strategic mine objectives. The role requires continuous assessment of ground conditions, equipment capabilities, and scheduling constraints to ensure plans remain executable and responsive to operational realities.
Key Responsibilities
Key duties include generating detailed development schedules, optimizing extraction sequences, performing design validations, and conducting regular plan‑versus‑actual reconciliations to identify deviations. The planner maintains and updates 3D mine models, produces high‑accuracy drill‑and‑blast layouts, supports infrastructure and ventilation design placement, and collaborates closely with surveyors and geologists to ensure spatial integrity. Additional responsibilities include analyzing bottlenecks, forecasting resource requirements, contributing to LOM planning, and ensuring all designs comply with statutory and engineering standards.
Qualifications & Experience
A Degree in Mining Engineering, ERB registration, and a minimum of 8 years' underground planning experience are required. Advanced proficiency in Deswik, AutoCAD, Microsoft Project or Primavera is required.
