Job Summary

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Senior Control Room Operator provides leadership and advanced oversight of the mine control room. This role ensures the continuous monitoring of underground mining operations, personnel movement, and equipment performance. It also involves mentoring junior operators, ensuring data accuracy, and coordinating communications during both routine and emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include analyzing data trends from fleet management systems, monitoring operational KPIs, validating communication logs, and escalating deviations in equipment behavior or workforce safety. The senior operator coordinates shift communications, assigns monitoring tasks to operators, enforces strict adherence to communication protocols, and liaises with engineering, ventilation, and production teams. During emergencies, the role provides critical support by managing information flow and ensuring clear instructions reach underground crews.

Qualifications & Experience

A Diploma in Engineering, IT, or Mining-related fields is preferred. Candidates must have three to five years of experience in underground control rooms or dispatch operations. Strong situational awareness, communication skills, and the ability to remain calm during complex operational events are required.
