Job Summary

Reporting to the PIC, the Long Hole / Cable Bolter Operator executes highly specialized geotechnical functions critical to preventing catastrophic rockfalls in large excavations. The operator will maneuver and utilize complex, mechanized bolting machinery.

Key Responsibilities

Duties include drilling precise test holes, injecting specialized resin or cementitious grout, and rigorously testing cable tension to ensure maximum ground stability prior to allowing further mining advance. The operator must constantly assess rock mass behavior and adapt bolting patterns in consultation with the Strata Control Officer. Additionally, the role will require the drilling of long blasting holes using a ITH drill rig.

Qualifications & Experience

The candidate must hold a Sandvik Operator Certificate for the DS422i Cable Bolter and the DU311 ITH Long Hole Drill Rig. Demonstrate a minimum of eight years of dedicated experience in active ground support installation within a mechanized hard-rock environment using the above stated machinery, showcasing an understanding of rock mechanics. Underground high-speed development experience is required.
