Job Summary
Reporting to the Mine Manager, the Financial Manager leads all financial governance, reporting, and cost‑control functions for the underground mining operation. This senior role ensures the financial integrity of the project through robust accounting practices, compliance with Botswana tax legislation, and accurate forecasting in a high‑cost, equipment‑intensive mining environment. The Financial Manager provides strategic financial insight to support production planning, capital investment decisions, and long‑term growth.
Key Responsibilities
The Financial Manager prepares monthly management accounts, statutory reports, and tax submissions while overseeing cash‑flow management, budget development, and variance analysis across all departments. Responsibilities include overseeing stock valuation, reviewing expenditure on equipment maintenance and consumables, coordinating internal and external audits, and ensuring proper cost allocation. The Manager advises leadership on cost‑saving initiatives, reviews contractor invoices, validates procurement spending, and ensures ERP data integrity. Close collaboration with operations, engineering, and supply chain teams is required to monitor cost drivers and forecast operating requirements accurately.
Qualifications & Experience
A Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification or advanced finance degree is required, with at least ten years' experience—five of which must be within the mining sector. Strong IFRS/GAAP knowledge, ERP proficiency, and the ability to lead financial operations in a demanding project environment are essential.
