Job Summary
Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Lamp Room Supervisor oversees the complete operation of the lamp room facility, ensuring all underground workers receive reliable, compliant safety equipment each shift. This is a leadership role requiring strong administrative capability, advanced knowledge of mine safety gear, and the ability to supervise a team in a high‑risk, high‑throughput operational environment. The Supervisor ensures that all equipment is maintained, inspected, tracked, and documented in accordance with statutory mining requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Key duties include supervising lamp room attendants, planning and managing daily issuing cycles, enforcing strict inspection and maintenance schedules, and verifying equipment functionality prior to distribution. The Supervisor maintains accurate inventory registers, coordinates repair or replacement of defective units, and ensures correct calibration of gas detection and digital tracking devices. Additional responsibilities include generating reports for safety audits, implementing continuous‑improvement practices, managing consumables, and ensuring readiness for emergency support. Close coordination with Safety, HR, and Operations is essential to maintaining compliance and supporting workforce logistics.
Qualifications & Experience
A Diploma in Occupational Safety, Administration, or a related field is preferred, along with three or more years of supervisory or technical experience in mining or heavy‑industry settings. Strong leadership, documentation accuracy, and consistent application of safety standards are essential.
