Job Summary

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Mine Superintendent serves as the senior operational authority underground, responsible for executing high‑speed development and production activities while maintaining absolute compliance with statutory mining requirements. The role requires strong situational leadership, expert knowledge of mechanized extraction cycles, and the ability to coordinate multiple crews, equipment assets, and logistical support systems under dynamic geological conditions. The superintendent ensures production targets are consistently achieved without compromising safety or equipment reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Core duties include overseeing daily shift execution, validating workplace readiness, enforcing SOPs and legal standards, and providing operational direction to Shiftbosses and frontline teams. The superintendent coordinates engineering, maintenance, and technical support to resolve operational constraints, conducts detailed inspections of active headings, and ensures proper deployment of trackless machinery. Additional responsibilities include managing production KPIs, leading incident investigations, mentoring emerging leaders, and driving initiatives aimed at improving productivity, cost control, and workforce discipline.

Qualifications & Experience

A Mine Overseer or Mine Captain Certificate, along with at least 12 years of mechanized underground experience in high-speed development, is required. Strong leadership ability, decisive problem‑solving skills, and proven competence in managing high‑pressure production environments are essential.
